Using CSS (cascading style sheets) makes it easy to specify font sizes, but before you set a font size you should be aware that it could change the layout of your site considerably. Different browsers interpret font sizes differently, so a font that appears readable in Microsoft Internet Explorer may be smaller when viewed in Netscape. In addition, font sizes on Windows systems are not always the same as they are on other platforms. Your site may look great to Windows users, but it may be illegible to those using a Mac.

“Ems” (em):

The “em” is a scalable unit that is used in web document media. An em is equal to the current font-size, for instance, if the font-size of the document is 12pt, 1em is equal to 12pt. Ems are scalable in nature, so 2em would equal 24pt, .5em would equal 6pt, etc. Ems are becoming increasingly popular in web documents due to scalability and their mobile-device-friendly nature.

Pixels (px):

Pixels are fixed-size units that are used in screen media (i.e. to be read on the computer screen). One pixel is equal to one dot on the computer screen (the smallest division of your screen’s resolution). Many web designers use pixel units in web documents in order to produce a pixel-perfect representation of their site as it is rendered in the browser. One problem with the pixel unit is that it does not scale upward for visually-impaired readers or downward to fit mobile devices.

Points (pt):

Points are traditionally used in print media (anything that is to be printed on paper, etc.). One point is equal to 1/72 of an inch. Points are much like pixels, in that they are fixed-size units and cannot scale in size.

Percent (%):

The percent unit is much like the “em” unit, save for a few fundamental differences. First and foremost, the current font-size is equal to 100% (i.e. 12pt = 100%). While using the percent unit, your text remains fully scalable for mobile devices and for accessibility.

On the main program screen, there are two windows. In the top window, you will see the drives in your system, that are available for testing. Highlight the drive and select the icon on the top row to test or run SMART status.
The DLGDIAG - Select an Option window appears.

- EXTENDED TEST - performs a Full Media Scan to detect bad sectors. Test may take several hours to complete depending on the size of the drive.
- WRITE ZEROS - writes zeros to the drive with options of Full Erase and Quick Erase. File system and data will be lost.
- VIEW TEST RESULT - displays the latest test results.
Select the test you wish to perform and click the Start button.
When the test completes, you will be notified with a pass/fail message. Click the Close button.

The term rootkit is used to describe the mechanisms and techniques whereby malware, including viruses, spyware, and trojans, attempt to hide their presence from spyware blockers, antivirus, and system management utilities. Persistent Rootkits
A persistent rootkit is one associated with malware that activates each time the system boots. I was online 8 hours a day. At certain time my connection was limited or no connection at all without unknown reason.

So i open command prompt and look for ipconfig, which normally related to network or connection.

To open ipconfig. Start your command prompt-Start-Run type 'command' or 'cmd'

normally it will start at c:\> (where c is your OS directory)
Then type ipconfig /all, and information above will shown.

To see your computer network setting just type c:\>ipconfig

As you can see my ipaddress was 0000, which mean i have no connection.

First multimedia, is mostly referring to software programs that incorporate written info with pictures and sounds to create a very appealing and stimulating "production" if you will. Two monitor are better

There is lots of benefit of using two monitors or some times called dual monitor. But before you do this, you must make sure that your display card can support for two output monitor.
See following.
After installation, next step is to configure via display properties.
As you can see display properties are marked with monitor 1 and monitor 2. Monitor one(1) as default setting was your primary monitor.
If you decided to use another monitor, and you can tick 'Extended my desktop onto this monitor'. Which mean you can use the secondary monitor now.
Note that you also can use your telivision (TV) as you second monitor. As you can see from first image there is port called S-Video. You can use this port to connect to your TV or Cam-Coder as well. (try it)

What is data rate?

In telecommunications and computing, bitrate (sometimes written bit rate, data rate or as a variable Rbit) is the number of bits that are conveyed or processed per unit of time. Bit rate is often used as synonym to the terms connection speed, transfer rate and similar.

In this article i'm referring bitrate to your Hard Disk. Before you can capture/downloading the video from your cam coder, a good practice is to test your Hard Disk Bitrate.

When the first computer introduce, storage are in form of Punch Card. Information are stored in piece of special paper that are punch in to it. This decade computer storage are as small as nail or even smaller!

The MultiMediaCard (MMC) is a flash memory memory card standard. Unveiled in 1997 by Siemens AG and SanDisk. Sorage range from 32MB to 4GB. Used for digital devices or portable computer with devices extension.Flash memory is non-volatile computer memory that can be electrically erased and reprogrammed. The last known capacity of flash memory was 8GB which available for retail. This means bigger than DVD dual layer.
The xD-Picture Card used mainly in digital cameras. xD originally stood for extreme Digital. xD cards are used in Olympus and Fujifilm digital cameras and Olympus digital voice recorders. Fujifilm also made an MP3 player (xD-MP3) that used the cards. Storage capacity range from 16MB to 2GB.
Secure Digital (SD) is a flash (non-volatile) memory card format developed by Matsushita, SanDisk and Toshiba for use in portable devices. Today it is widely used in digital cameras, handheld computers, PDAs, mobile phones and GPS receivers, and video game consoles

AVI - Audio Video Interleave. Microsoft format for digital audio, video, and other multimedia data. Big size file.

ASF - Advanced Streaming Format (formerly Active Streaming Format). A Microsoft file and data stream format for multimedia data including audio, video, still images, and other data types. Also referred to as Windows Media format.

Capture Card - Board (PCI Slot)that connects to the input of a computer and enables a video signal from a video source (camcorder or VCR) to be converted to a digital signal in a form that can be read and processed by a computer. It then performs the opposite process, playing back to a recorder.

Codec - short for compressor decompressor. Usually a software or hardware component that compresses and/or decompresses audio or video data. Searching via Google for free CODEC.

Compression - Reducing the size of a file on disk or in memory. Compression can be lossless (i.e. compressed without any loss of information) or lossy, in which some data is discarded, on the assumption that the loss will not be noticeable when the data is decompressed.

Firewire - The IEEE-1394 High Performance Serial Bus. This standard supports data rates of 100/200/400 Megabits/second. It is used with high quality digital video such as the DV digital video standard and cameras.

IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. An organization of engineers responsible for a number of electrical and electronics industry standards. IEEE is an international professional society headquartered in the United States. IEEE is responsible for the Firewire (IEEE-1394) High Performance Serial Bus standard used with high quality digital video cameras such as DV cameras.

MPEG - Motion Pictures Experts Group. A body within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that established the MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 digital audio and video compression standards. MPEG is also used to refer to video and audio clips compressed using the MPEG standards and the MPEG standards themselves.

Non-Linear Editing - Editing video on computer hard disk. Disks are non-linear format - they store the data in a random order and allow virtual instant access to any part of it. Non-linear editing may be carried out with a home computer, such as a Mac or PC. The video from the camcorder passes through a digitizer and is stored on the computer's hard disk (a lot of hard disk space is required --gigabytes, rather than megabytes). Appropriate software allows you to review shots, create an edit decision list, add titles and special effects, and then preview the edited movie, before copying it to tape.

QuickTime - QuickTime is Apple's equivalent of Video for Windows for the Macintosh. Apple also makes QuickTime for Windows. QuickTime is also used to refer to the QuickTime Movie file format, a widely used format for digital audio, video, and other multimedia.

Streaming Video - Streaming video is video that is played over a network. It differs from video that is played from a file on a local storage medium such as a hard disk or video that is downloaded over a network to local storage media such as a hard disk and then played back from the storage media. Typically, streaming media is transferred in packets over the network. A short amount of the video, perhaps one second, is buffered locally in a streaming video player to average out fluctuations in the channel. The streaming video player plays the video from the buffer that is often a block of local memory (RAM).

This is very bad when happen to you computer. Sound disappear when installing new device. I used creative audio PCI (ES13710(wdm) and sound lose in the middle of playing music or video. but i guess that isn't about hardware vendor.
Problem
DirectX diagnostic for sound results in error message.
DirectSound test results:-

Solution
open system.ini...(do search). look at following [header]. type manual as describe.

under the [drivers] section:

under the [boot] section notably:

sound.drv=mmsound.drv

And under [mci]:

cdaudio=mcicda.drv

Substitute files and reboot. you sound should ok now.

How to Create DVD Movie

My video project recently. Wedding of two couple. oh it so tired, plus raining during ceremony (sun also hot).This what look like pinnacle studio. pinnacle studio always produce patch for it enhancment and bug fixed. in this project i make video for 2.5 hours long which is not fit into DVD 4.8g. so i ahave to sperate it into 2 DVDs. DVD much quality than VCD even rendering time i just set to automatic quality.
tips:
when you rendering dvd make sure you enough space on you hard drive (the bigger the better). Studio will use large amount of space to store auxiliary when rendering. when you failed to do so, it may produce error(s) e.g missing plugins. after finishing create movie/dvd/vcd you may delete this auxiliary file and ready to next project.

This is my sample work, using ulead software. Ulead consist of 5 default track. You can add video track as an overlay track. Others main track was text, audio and music. For audio track you can recording directly from you microfon or from you speaker stereo. You also can insert music from cd.

Ulead divide into three view which is storyboard, track and audio.

Image one can produce video as second image. Overlay track may moved to it desire position as well as text. After some editing, press play button for preview.

File size:
If you are looking to capture an entire videotape and make it a digital file, then you will want to look for the capture software that will encode your video and output the smallest file size possible - without sacrificing too much quality. Windows Media Encoder and Real Producer offer good solutions for capturing video and outputting a fairly small file size, however, these products do not offer editing features. What you encode is what you get. The upgrade version of Real Producer (Real Producer Plus) does offer editing of Real Media files.

Editing:
If you want to take a clip, or series of clips from a videotape, and want the clips to be finely edited to start and stop at a precise time interval, you will need a video editing software package. Capture hardware devices usually also come with some video editing software, which will allow you to edit a video file. However, more professional packages, such as Adobe Premiere or Vegas Video, allow you to do a lot more advanced things, such as add transitions between clips, use multiple audio and video tracks, and make your video have the look and feel of a professionally produced movie. There is a learning curve associated with all video capture and editing software, and the more complex your desires, the more time it may take to get a digital video file that suits your needs.

File types:
In general, there are three types of media files: Windows Media, Real, and QuickTime. There is a standard video file type called .avi that will usually play in any media player. AVI, or audio video interleave, is a Microsoft specified format for saving audio and/or video clips, referred to by Windows as "Video for Windows." Windows Media Encoder will save files as .wmv files. Real Producer will save files as .rm (Real Media) files. QuickTime video is recognized by the .mov file extension. PowerPoint 2000 will most easily play all Windows Media Format files (.asf, .wma, or .wmv file name extensions). Products such as Media Cleaner can change the format of a file and can also apply a number of different compressions to alter the type and size of your file.

Playing Video over the Internet:
More and more, video over the Internet is being used as method of watching video. One method of putting video on the Internet is to simply put the file in your web directory and have users download the file to their hard drive. Keep in mind that video files are often very large, and you need to consider both space issues on your web server, and download time to the user. Another method to deliver video over the Internet is to stream your video, meaning that the file will reside on your server and be played on the user's computer as a continuous, buffered stream. If you want to use your encoded video file over the Internet, either to be watched live, or as an on-demand archive, you will not only need video capture software, but will also need a means of serving, or streaming the video to those who visit your website.

Hardware requirements:
There is the option of installing a video capture card in your computer, or using a USB connected device to your computer. If you are not familiar, or comfortable with the idea of opening up your computer and installing a video capture card, you should consider a USB video capture device. There are also cards and/ports called IEEE 1394 FireWire interface, which are typically associated with digital video cameras and allow for video to be downloaded directly, and quickly, to your computer's hard drive. These can be purchased separately, just as a video capture card, and more often are included in newer, media friendly, computers and laptops.

Media Players:
Related to file type, it is important to remember that you must have a media player installed on your computer in order to play a digital video file. The three major types of media players are Windows Media Player, Real Player, and QuickTime player. Another important thing to consider is that while some media players may play a video file not of its specialized type, in general that may cause problems.

Using Video In PowerPoint:
Being a Microsoft product, PowerPoint will play nearly all Windows Media Format files, however it will not play Real Media files, and sometimes has difficulty with QuickTime files. It will usually play .avi files without a problem, so if you are encoding a video file you can usually feel safe that standard will work. Since .avi files are usually quite large (depending on the compression used), you may wish to use a Windows Media Format instead. Another option is to encode your media in whatever format you want and simply play the file using the player of choice outside of PowerPoint. Not all video needs to be played within PowerPoint.

What are dropped frames? Well, that's when your capture card does not take in all the information it is given. Information is lost, and the video quality is degraded because of it. Information is now missing when a frame has been lost or "dropped". The most obvious side affect of dropped frames is jerky movement during playback, or a loss of audio sync. The audio sync is usually caused because video frames are dropped and audio frames are not.

Identifying and fixing the dropped frames problem

1. Multi-tasking and TSR.
Video is demanding. Multi-tasking can cause dropped frames. Either learn to do one thing at a time or buy an extra system. Close all TSR (terminate, stay resident) programs (like anti-virus and other items in your system tray). Also use CTRL-ALT-DEL to launch the WINDOWS task manager. Shut down tasks that are not needed (research what an item is if you are unsure ... look it up using google.com), like printer software and icon managers.

2. LAN and Internet.
LAN/Internet simultaneously accesses many of your system's 65,535 ports and you rarely know it. Unplug yourself from the network and Internet so your usage is solely used on the video task at hand.

3. Heat.
An overheated system can drop frames. P4 processors will slow themselves up and hard drives will act erratic when overheated. AMD processors can melt down and/or deteriorate (many of them have no internal heat safety protocols like the Intel P4 chips). Be sure your system is cooled with good fans/heat-syncs and that your room is well-cooled. Know that 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the room is not optimum working temperature, try 70-75 if you can run the A/C or a good fan.

4. Program settings.
Is your program setup properly for capturing? Rarely is the out-of-the-box setting worth anything. Tweak.

5. Not the card's fault.
If a card always dropped, the manufacturer would have never shipped it. It's on your end. Figure it out. Quit blaming XYZ's "horrible" card and then praising ABC's "wonderful" card because your luck/knowledge changed after replacement. (When a driver is speeding down the road, nearly running you over, you don't blame the car - it's the user's fault.) If there really was a problem, there'd be a recall or update. Have you checked the Web site for updates? ...And yes, I know this doesn't always apply, but it does most of the time.

6. Software vs. hardware.
If your device is a software capturing device and not a hardware capturing device, these issues become even more important. Software capturing is more demanding on the CPU than hardware capturing.

7. Slow computers.
P4 or AMD+ systems can do great. PIII and below is asking for trouble, especially users operating off the stripped-down Duron and Celeron processors.

A variation of processor. Up to you to choose depend on you budget.

8. Computers are like humans.
They need rest too. Reset your system before giving it a hearty video workout. I'm still amazed at the number of people that run the computer for weeks on end without rebooting and wonder why it's acting up. Because of the way Windows works, you lose resources after time, especially opening/closing programs. They never truly close. Maybe even consider letting it stay powered down for an hour or so before using for captures or encodes (as it helps to minimize heat too).

9. VHS source. Garbage in, garbage out.
It's that easy. Often, VHS and VHS-C tapes can cause your system to drop frames. This is usually confined to old tapes that have seen better days, but it can also apply to newer tapes. The information being fed into your video card is corrupt, and it will throw off your system. Unfortunately, there is no fix for this. A TBC (time-base corrector) may correct the issues, but even then, that is not fool-proof. The number of frames dropped for this reason should be a rather small number (maybe 10 per hour) and will probably happen close together because of a bad spot on the tape. It may also help to rewind and fast forward the tape a few times, then try again.

10. Check your hard drive settings.
(For WinNT/2K/XP: right-click on MyComputer-> Properties-> Hardware-> DeviceManager -> IDE-> Primary IDE channel -> Advanced Settings-> Current Transfer Mode) and
(For Win95/98/ME: right-click on MyComputer-> Properties-> DeviceManager-> DiskDrives-> IDE-> Properties). Your system should be set on ULTRA DMA or DMA. Note: Some Ultra ATA cards (example: Promise card that comes with Western Digital drives) will not show DMA as an option, but the feature is turned on.

11. Hard drive usage.
Defrag your hard drive on a regular basis. And use a dedicated hard drive for capturing (meaning a physically separate drive, not just a partition). Capturing to the same drive where your OS is housed can cause conflicts as that drive is always being used by the Windows or Apple swap files. You want to use a drive that is not doing anything else at all. RAID drives may or may not help, and there are reports that both support and reject the use of RAID for video.

12. CPU usage.
If you are using an NT based OS, like Windows NT/2K/XP, or an Apple, check to make sure the CPU usage is not max'ing out. If so, that may mean your system is too slow, improperly configured, or that you codec is too demanding on your system. It cannot keep up, and hence drops frames. Non-NT systems, like Windows 95/98/ME, can use Norton System Doctor to monitor usage.

13. Capture software and codecs.
In most cases, the software that comes with your card will work. It is the software supported by the card, and what was tested to give the optimal results. However, other alternatives include VirtualDub, VirtualVCR, PowerVCR, iuVCR, AVI_IO, WinDVR, and NeoDVD4... just to name a few. Try a freebie or a trial edition of any of these packages to see if you can get better results. If capturing AVI, consider the HuffyUV codec or an MJPEG codec. Capturing MPEG1 or MPEG2 works great on some cards, but not all. Not all cards will cooperate with all software and all codecs, at least from a dropped-frames point-of-view.

14. Desktop settings.
Is your computer system set to use a 1600x1200 resolution at 32-bit color? If so, that may too much for your system to handle, in conjunction with capturing. Try 16-bit or 24-bit color with 1024x768 desktop. This error is normally found with on-board video cards used jointly with a cheap capture card. Change your overlay settings, and try it both with and without overlay activated.How to do setting?

15. Sound cards.
It appears that some sound cards can cause you to drop frames. Typically confined to ISA soundcards, cheap PCI soundcards, and onboard sound (your soundcard is part of your motherboard). This is not a common problem, but has been known to happen.

16. BIOS settings.
Some systems have BIOS settings that can adversely affect capturing. One user has stated that turning off FSB SpreadSpectrum on an Asus A7N8X-E motherboard corrected his capture issues. Be sure to read the manual that came with your motherboard or find information online.

17. Memory/RAM.
Although less common, RAM can be a determining factor on video. A minimum of 512MB is suggested. The minimum is about 256-384 depending on how your system system acts. Anything over 1GB is pretty much wasted, and that full 1GB will never be used anyway ... in fact the full 512MB may not be needed for simple capturing application.

18. Preview Window.
Do not make the video preview window full screen. Leave it at a relatively average size (no more than half the monitor size). Otherwise the system will be forced to allocate more resources to preview rather than the more-important recording task.

19. Hard drive cache.
Another site visitor suggested this fixed his dropped frames problem. In Windows XP, go to Device Manager, click on Disk Drive/Properties/Policies/... and check the "Enable Write Cache" box if it is not already checked.

FYI: These rules apply to anything in general. Encoding, capturing, and just any overall poor system performance. These simple tricks work wonders.
